Where do my visitors come from?
Channels, sources and campaigns explained.
Every visit is labelled with where it came from:
| Channel | Means |
|---|---|
| Direct | Typed your address, used a bookmark, or came from an app that hides the source |
| Organic search | Clicked a normal Google or Bing result |
| Paid search | Clicked a Google or Bing ad |
| Organic social | Clicked a normal post on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and so on |
| Paid social | Clicked a social media ad |
| Local listing | Came from your Google Business Profile |
| Referral | Clicked a link on another website |
| Clicked a link in an email |
Campaigns
When a link includes UTM tags (like ?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=spring-sale), Site Stats shows that campaign by name. We add these to every ad we run, so you can see exactly which campaign brought each lead. See the Glossary.
