The free website checkup

A plain-English report on your home page in about a minute: security, Google basics, phone speed, broken links, tracking and renewals.

The free checkup at syndicatemarketing.co/checkup.html looks at your home page from the outside, the way Google and your visitors see it, and gives you a report in about a minute. There’s no sign-up and nothing is installed or changed on your site.

What it checks

  • Security: a secure connection (HTTPS) on every visit, a certificate that isn’t about to run out, browser safety settings, and images or scripts loading insecurely.
  • Google & search: whether Google is allowed to list your home page, your page title and search description, a main heading, a sitemap, business details marked up for Google, and the picture shown when someone shares your link.
  • Phones & speed: whether the page is set up for phones, how fast it arrives, Google’s own phone speed test, and image descriptions. See What do my PageSpeed scores mean? for what the speed scores mean.
  • Leads & tracking: an easy way to get in touch from the home page, and whether anything is counting your visitors.
  • Links: up to 40 links from your home page to your own pages.
  • Renewals: when your domain is paid up to.

What the score means

Each check that passes counts fully, a warning counts half, and a problem counts nothing. The most serious checks (Google being blocked, no secure connection, not set up for phones, an expiring domain, the speed score and the page title) count double. It’s a quick way to see progress, not a grade on your business.

What it doesn’t do

It’s automated and reads the home page only. It can’t judge your design, your writing or how well the site sells, and it never logs in or looks for private files. For a person to go through your whole site, there’s the website & SEO audit ($150): see Ads audits and website audits.

Your report and your details

Each report has its own link. Anyone with the link can open it, and it doesn’t show who ran it. If you ask for it by email, we keep your name and email with the report and may check in once to see if you want help. Reports nobody asked to have emailed are deleted after six months. Google runs the phone speed test and only sees your website address.
